Christmas Baubles & 100 day challenge

Wow what a title of a blog! A bit boring I know, but I wasn’t sure what to name it! I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, but this year is not going to be the same for anyone 🙁 As I write this, the UK has announced that the first vaccine has been approved, let’s hope that this is the light at the end of the tunnel. I am so grateful for everyone involved.

Since my last blog entry, I have been so busy with orders, getting new stock and, designing and proof knitting patterns. It’s been difficult to fit in social media. I have now a couple of new kits out. The first being knit your own Christmas Bauble. This is with 4ply sock yarn and DPN’s. Its a cute little kit, even if I say so myself!

Cute Kit 🙂

Also on request of one of my lovely customers Lillian, I have designed a hat to match the Fir Tree Cowl. Here’s my daughter modelling it. I know, Lillian is patiently waiting for her kit to arrive in the US and she is very happy with the design.

When the 2nd lockdown started in the UK, I wasn’t sure how it would be regarding my Etsy shop, so I thought, let’s give myself a challenge and this is where the 100 day challenge comes in. What could I do? I bought 500g of BFL & Shetland to spin with a couple of years ago. So I decided to spin these fleece and then design and knit a garment. Tbh, I know 100 days sounds a lot, but when you work 7 days a week, I do struggle to find ‘me time’, as I’m a terror for not switching off from the shop. Here’s my progress so far.

I decided to spin the 2 fleeces separately and then 2 ply the yarn. I’m quite chuffed how the first ball turned out. I have spun the yarn to a DK weight, but I will need to knit a swatch to confirm this.

Take care, look after yourselves.
